About Confetti

The New Confetti

Confetti is for celebrations.  But it was 1984 and yellow protest confetti was raining down Ayala Avenue.  It was the worst of times to start a business, a shoe boutique, of all things.  But Vicki Jardiolin, Marketing professor at the UP College of Business then coming home from grad studies in Germany had observed there exciting developments in materials technology.  A business plan was afoot.

New man-made materials that looked and behaved like leather but cost much less had been developed by techno-companies in Germany, working with the huge German shoe industry based in Pirmasens, Germany’s Marikina. This was the cutting edge of applied research, collaborating with fashion.  For Vicki, it was the best time to put all those marketing lectures to practice.  It was a strategic opportunity to break into the Philippine shoe market, to challenge existing notions of using only traditional materials and to give the customer a price break.  Confetti opened its first store at the then Greenbelt Arcade in Makati offering shoes crafted from the new materials and made in Marikina.

Now, into the new millenium, globalization and many branches nationwide later Confetti is re-imagining itself and building on new notions of and opportunities for retailing footwear.  There’s a new minimalist logo.  Sassy classy new interiors, designed by Aya Maceda, topnotch UP Architecture graduate Class of 2000, enhances the shopping experience at Confetti stores.

A talented new design team led by Mok Bitong combines 21st century ultra light shoe components and techno-materials with traditional leather, raffia, beads & classic fabrics like denim and linen to achieve a very contemporary fashion fusion in footwear.  The fashionable working woman’s work-and-lifestyle is the focus of the team’s creative energies.  Frequent visits to international shoe fairs and the new globalization environment allows Confetti management to bring in a wide array of sexy new imports—shoes & bags from Italy, Spain, France and HongKong.  Confetti was and is all about shoes and now, even more.  Exciting new “must-sees” at Confetti boutiques and Concession stores.
